MASTER OF SCIENCE IN

BIOLOGY

The M.Sc. program in Biology is an advanced-level program for students aspiring to work or currently working in an academic, research or industrial setting. This program requires a thesis.
    

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the program, the MS Biology graduates should be able to:
1.   Acquire advanced knowledge and skills in chosen field/are of specialization;

2.   Sustain the conservation and protection of all natural resources;

3.   Apply varied research designs and methods in solving biology-related problems;

4.   Communicate effectively advanced biological knowledge in varied mass media;

5.   Promote Christian values and act in accordance to professional, social, and ethical responsibility.

PROGRAM MAJORS

The M.Sc. Biology students may choose to major in the following areas: Ecology, Animal Biology, Plant Biology, and Microbiology.

COMPETENCY STANDARDS

Graduates of M.Sc. Biology are expected to:
1.    grasp advanced knowledge in the basic areas of biology
2.    have the ability to keep abreast with new developments in science and technology
3.    apply computational methods, and appropriate experimental designs and analysis, in research problems of biology
4.    recognize and solve meaningful research problems in biology
5.    have the ability to write and present orally a scientific paper
